Castle Kennedy

Q145

Old Castle Kennedy is a ruined 17th century tower house with later additions in between Black Loch and White Loch, Inch Parish, Wigtownshire. The Kennedy's acquired the estate from the Church in the late 15th century. Their earlier stronghold was on Inch Crindil o'wise Black Loch, but was the 17th century tower house re-built or constructed in the same position and location? Castle Kennedy passed to the Hamiltons, thence to the Dalrymples of Stair, in the 17th century and was destroyed by fire in the 18th century.
