Château de l'Hers

Château de l'Hers on the left bank of the Rhône within the commune of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The castle is viewed from the southeast. Although a castle on the rocky outcrop existed by the 10th century, the surviving ruins date from no earlier than the 12th century while the round tower dates from the end of the 14th or the beginning of the 15th century.
