The "Pillar of Balzac", also commonly referred to as "Le Pilier de Balzac" — a sculptural monument by Jean Arp in the San Gabriel Valley of Southern California. It is located near the intersection of Valley Boulevard and Morganfield Avenue in the city of West Covina, in eastern Los Angeles County, California. The piece was commissioned by the descendants of French novelist and playwright Honoré de Balzac, to memorialize a lengthy relationship between the writer and William Workman, one of the 19th-century American pioneers in the San Gabriel Valley and Southern California.
