Cottages near St Hilary Church. These cottages (and the nearby church) lay at the end of a cul-de-sac road, quite out of the way of most of the settlement in the parish. This situation probably came about as a result of extensive mining in the area in the 19th century and the building of mineworkers houses away from the original village.
